1 Alcohols Phenols and Ethers
Phenol reacts with bromine in carbon disulphide at low temperature to give
1) 2, 4, 6-Tribromophenol
2) p-Bromophenol
3) o-and p-Bromophenol
4) m-Bromophenol
Due to the less ionic character of carbon disulphide o- and p- products are only formed
